Getting Going Again...

Well, I had hoped to have a bit of a better rhythm going so far in January, but school has been consuming my life, especially with finals coming up next week. Fortunately, I can exempt all of them (supposedly), and hopefully, this will give me time to work more next week with some hard-earned free time.

Fortunately today, after having finished reading through what I had written for my NaNo 2006 manuscript and adding comments, I began writing again on it, and I am pleasantly surprised to find that I added a whole 1,000 words after not having written any fiction prose for a month and a half. After buying and using Holly Lisle's How to Find Your Writing Discipline workshop, I am pleased to find that I have made some progress in my goals, and it's always a good sign when I can feel my Muse doing things without me forcing it to.

Progress for today was:
a) I finished mapping a lot more to my world, making it considerably bigger without affecting what I have written so far very much
b) 1,000 more words on the manuscript

Pretty good for not having written at all for so long.

And We're Off!

It's finally NaNo again! ^_^ Today, I woke up early and was able to write 500 words before school. While I had planned to do as much writing as I could at school, I didn't do any. However, I was able to get a lot of homework out of the way, leaving me time tonight to write.

As of this posting, my wordcount currently sits at 1,067 words. It's getting there, though I had hoped for a burst of frenzied writing to leap ahead and pad my wordcount as much as possible. I suppose that's still possible, and I'm happy to relate the good news that my story, as fledgling as it is at the moment, is already growing by itself, and little bits of characterization are peeping from the wings while some more material with which to flesh out my plot has already presented itself. :)

For now, I'm off to celebrate my favorite feast day, All Saints' Day, at Mass, but when I return, I will finish up at least those last 600 words to fulfill my daily quota.

Happy NaNoWriMo, and good luck to everyone! :)

It's almost that time again...

I should really start using my LJ more, and hopefully with the rumblings of NaNo just over the horizon, I will. For now, I'm just trying to use what precious little time I have left (I, unfortunately, wasted most of October, what was supposed to be my planning month) to plan something- anything- of my novel.

All I know for now is that it is set in Atlantis just before the destruction of the fabled continent. Vague, wispy plot details lurk on the outskirts of my consciousness, and I have four days left to gather them into a semblance of something usable by November 1. Fun!

I'll be back soon, probably after the race is on :)
